About NFRSA
The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals (NFRSA) is a UK-registered charity (No. 1200949) dedicated to caring for dogs and horses that have given their working lives in public service.
When service animals retire, the financial support they once relied upon (for veterinary care, training, and equipment) often disappears. NFRSA steps in to fill that gap, helping cover medical bills and related costs so these animals can enjoy a comfortable, dignified retirement.
They support animals from a wide range of services: police, fire & rescue, prison, NHS, Border Force, National Crime Agency, MOD police, and more.
One of their guiding principles is that there are no fees for the animals themselves; retired service animals can register free of charge, and any support granted is offered with respect, care, and gratitude.
In just a few short years, NFRSA has already gifted over £170,000 in support and has registered more than 500 animals as members of their community.
Their mission is simple but powerful: “Protect Our Protectors.” Because these animals dedicated their lives to safeguarding us, they deserve to live their later years with comfort, support, and dignity.
