The The Big Bark Fete
£ Raised for Charity!
A Pawsome Day Out for Pooches.
With favourable, and much cooler weather conditions prevailing the stage was set early for a fabulous day out for dogs and their owners. A mixture of sunshine and showers (sometimes heavy) promised practically ideal conditions for doggos to enjoy the various activities on offer.
With Mount Edgcumbe House and grounds looking as resplendent as ever, the fun got underway at 10:00 when we welcomed every poochy size, shape and colour imaginable.
We were delighted that Refuge 4 Pets hosted the dog show. They brought a flutter of pink and white rosettes, laid out on a table beside the judges, ready to be shared out amongst deserving winners. Meanwhile, a line-up of well-groomed dogs waiting patiently for their turn in the Doggy Photo Booth with Mel Vickery Photography. In another corner of the grounds, happy dogs stuffed their schnozzles into delicious Puppachinos.
The Big Bark included a range of Have-A-Go activities for owners and dogs alike to try out, including Hoopers, Scurry, Fly Ball, Canicross and Agility. The agility tunnel in particular caused a few funny moments as owners tried various ways to encourage their dogs to venture through. One intrepid lady even gave a demonstration much to the amusement of the crowd.
As ever, the event focused on supporting ethical dog-related businesses and promoting healthy attitudes and positive training methods among dog owners. The Big Bark likes to offer valuable help and advice whenever the opportunity arises. In the seminar tent, hot topics included ‘understanding your foreign rescue dog, canine physiotherapy and arthritis management for dogs. Meanwhile, more than 30 exhibitors from around the Southwest offered products galore.
Our events always focus on raising money for local charitable organisations and this one was no exception. We’ll publish the total shortly, so remember to check back here soon.
